Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Network Operations Engineer – (Barrie Onsite) who will provide senior-level support for the client's network infrastructure. This person will manage daily shift deliverables, ensure smooth handovers, and support incident management across critical network platforms including LAN, MAN, WAN, RLAN, Wireless, Firewall, Load Balancer, and Optical solutions. The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise in network operations, exceptional troubleshooting skills, and a proven ability to work collaboratively within dynamic teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day deliverables during the shift under the overall direction of the NOC Shift Leader, ensuring efficient work management and prompt escalation when necessary.
  • Provide strong technical support by adhering to NOC processes and procedures, leveraging automation tools, and maintaining high-quality ticket and vendor documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with the Shift Leader to manage the incident queue, work intake, and overall delivery.
  • Engage in high-priority incidents and participate in incident calls, ensuring swift and effective resolution of network issues.
  • Work with broader operational teams and vendors, ensuring smooth handovers between shifts and timely follow-up on ongoing tasks.
  • Support the incident, change, and problem management processes by effectively prioritizing and triaging incidents based on critical devices and shared services.
  • Coach and mentor team members, provide effective feedback, and identify training needs and process improvement opportunities.
  • Create and review Methods of Procedure (MoPs) and “how-to” documentation to support and train new or junior team members.
  • Explore automation opportunities for repetitive tasks and report any process gaps or challenges with internal processes or vendor interactions.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Desired Skill-Set:

  • 3 to 5 years of troubleshooting experience in a network operations/production environment (CCNP certified with a minimum of 3 years or CCNA certified with a minimum of 5 years of troubleshooting experience)
  • 5 years of hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches
  • 5 years of troubleshooting/break-fix experience
  • Strong understanding of network environments, including TCP/IP, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless technologies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to interact effectively with internal teams and external vendors

Nice to Have:

  • 5 years of experience with Cisco ACI
  • Demonstrated expertise with Cisco Viptela SDWAN (or Aruba SDWAN)
  • Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls
  • Experience with VMware NSX
